Four Arrested for Extortion Scheme Posing as Journalists in Thane

In a recent incident in Thane, four individuals were allegedly involved in an extortion attempt while impersonating journalists. The police have already apprehended one of the suspects, with a manhunt underway for the remaining three, including a woman. Authorities have charged the suspects under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code), including extortion, criminal trespass, and criminal intimidation.
In Thane after they allegedly posed as journalists to extort money from a local victim. The suspects, identified as Chandrabushan Vishwakarma (35), Sudham Kharkhar (50), and Abishek Shigwan (32) from Thane, along with Minal Pawar (45) from Dombivli, are facing serious charges.
The victim, fearing for his safety and that of his family, immediately filed a complaint with the police. Acting on the complaint, the police swiftly arrested one of the suspects. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are actively searching for the remaining three suspects, including Minal Pawar, who is still on the run. The police have assured that they are pursuing all leads to ensure the remaining accused are apprehended promptly.
The police also confirmed that they are exploring all angles of the case, including whether the suspects have been involved in similar fraudulent activities in the past. Law enforcement agencies have urged the public to be cautious of individuals posing as journalists and to report any suspicious activities immediately.
