Gandhi vs Kejriwal: A Clash of Broken Promises and Politics in Delhi

Seelampur, New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi escalated tensions with his INDIA bloc ally, Arvind Kejriwal, on Monday in an intense rally at Seelampur, Delhi, claiming there was no substantial difference between Kejriwal’s AAP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP. Gandhi criticized both leaders for ignoring the caste census, a key issue for Dalits, tribals, and backward sections of society, and raised concerns about the growing influence of industrialists like Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani, accusing both Modi and Kejriwal of ignoring their influence on the nation.
Gandhi continued his tirade against Kejriwal’s promises, pointing out the rising pollution, corruption, and inflation in the Capital, calling out the AAP chief for failing to follow through on earlier promises to cleanse Delhi of corruption. "Just like Modi’s propaganda, Kejriwal has been making false promises to the people of Delhi," Gandhi said, urging citizens to remember the Congress’ track record of development under Sheila Dikshit’s leadership.
In response, Kejriwal struck back, asserting his priority to “save the country,” distancing himself from Gandhi’s allegations. He emphasized that his fight was focused on the nation's future, rather than any individual political agenda.
With the Delhi Assembly elections set for February 5, the political standoff signals an intensifying battle for control, with both the Congress and AAP now fighting separately. As Gandhi appealed to voters with the promise of a caste survey and protection for all Indians, he reiterated his call to support Congress for a “development-focused” Delhi free of hate and bias.
