Govinda and Sunita Ahuja Address Divorce Rumours After 37 Years of Marriage

Mumbai: The rumours surrounding the potential end of Govinda and Sunita Ahuja's 37-year marriage took the social media by storm recently. Multiple reports suggested that the couple was heading towards a divorce, but the Bollywood actor, known for his iconic role in Hero No. 1, has now responded to the speculations.

In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Govinda dismissed the divorce rumours, clarifying, “These are only business talks going on… I am in the process of starting my films." The actor also emphasized that the focus was on his upcoming professional projects.

Govinda’s manager, Sashi Sinha, also addressed the issue, stating, “There have been issues between the couple due to certain statements made by some family members. There is nothing more to it, and Govinda is in the process of starting a film, for which artists are visiting our office. We are trying to resolve it.”

Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla Hindi Rush, Sunita Ahuja had revealed that she and Govinda were living separately, though they still share a home. She shared, “We have two houses, and a bungalow opposite our apartment. I have my temple and my children in the flat. We live in the flat, whereas he gets late after his meetings. He loves talking, so he gathers 10 people and sits chatting with them. Meanwhile, my son, my daughter, and I live together, but we hardly talk because I feel if you end up wasting your energy by talking too much.”

In a separate interaction with Hindustan Times, Sunita opened up about the emotional challenges she faced over the years, particularly due to rumours of Govinda’s alleged affairs. She said, “Dil par patthar rakhna padta hai kyunki kabhi yahan link up, kabhi wahan. But often he would be working non-stop, so time hi nahi tha affair karne ka (It was difficult for me to deal with the rumours of his linkups, but he was always working on several films, so there was no time for an affair.)"

Reflecting on her current state of mind, Sunita admitted that while she wasn't insecure in the past, she feels differently now. “Ab woh kaam nahi kar raha hai, toh mujhe insecurity hai kahi affair na kar le. 60 ke baad log sathiya jaate hain (Now, since he hasn't been working for the past two years, I’m worried that he might have an affair. People tend to go senile after 60.),” she added.

As of now, the couple remains tight-lipped about the specifics of their relationship, though both are clearly focused on resolving any issues that have arisen. The ongoing speculations regarding their marriage continue to make headlines, but it appears both Govinda and Sunita are determined to navigate through the rumours.
