Heavy Vehicles Banned in Navi Mumbai for AR Rahman Live Show

Navi Mumbai : In anticipation of a large crowd expected to attend the AR Rahman live concert on Saturday, May 3, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a temporary ban on the movement and parking of all types of heavy vehicles within the city limits. The concert is scheduled to take place at Dr. D. Y. Patil Stadium in Nerul.
To ensure smooth traffic management and the safety of performers, VIPs, and thousands of attendees, the ban will be in effect from 2:00 PM to 12:00 midnight on Saturday. The move comes after the Senior Police Inspector of Turbhe Traffic Division raised concerns about heavy congestion and crowd influx expected during the event.
The order was issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Tirupati Kakade under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, and prohibits entry, movement, and parking of heavy goods vehicles on any road under the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate during the stated hours.
However, the restriction comes with exceptions for essential services — including vehicles carrying emergency supplies, police, fire brigade, ambulances, and official government vehicles. Vehicles with authorized passes issued by the concert organizers will also be allowed to operate.
Authorities have urged transport operators, logistics firms, and the general public to plan their travel in advance and cooperate with the traffic arrangements to avoid inconvenience and ensure the event proceeds without disruption.
The AR Rahman concert is expected to draw music lovers from across Mumbai and neighboring areas, making it one of the biggest entertainment events in Navi Mumbai this year.
