Mumbai :In a major push to position Maharashtra as a global hub for media and entertainment, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DNEG-Prime Focus Limited, a leading international player in visual effects and post-production services. The agreement, announced during the WAVES 2025 summit, involves a substantial investment of ₹3,000 crore and the creation of 2,500 direct jobs.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis shared the news via social media, highlighting the strategic importance of the partnership. “WAVES 2025: Building Bridges for Tomorrow. MoU 3 Signed between the Government of Maharashtra & DNEG-Prime Focus Limited. Total investment: ₹3,000 crore. Employment: 2,500 direct job creation. Sector: Media and Entertainment,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The MoU is aimed at enhancing Maharashtra’s standing as a leading destination for film production, digital content creation, and media innovation. It aligns with the state’s broader economic goals of encouraging technological advancement, employment generation, and global industry partnerships.

The MoU was signed in the presence of CM Fadnavis and Namit Malhotra, CEO of DNEG-Prime Focus Limited, who reiterated the company’s commitment to building state-of-the-art infrastructure and nurturing local talent in the region.

This investment arrives at a time when the media industry is rapidly evolving due to innovations in AI, digital effects, and streaming platforms. The partnership is expected to unlock new opportunities not just for skilled professionals in Mumbai but also for aspiring artists and technicians across Maharashtra.

As part of the WAVES 2025 initiative, this agreement reflects the government's forward-looking vision to turn Maharashtra into a media and entertainment powerhouse, while also reinforcing its commitment to economic development and job creation.
