Relief for Lakhs of Homeopathy Doctors in Maharashtra! CCMP Course Graduates to Be Officially Registered with MMC

In a landmark decision, the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) has announced that homeopathy doctors who have completed the Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology (CCMP) will now be officially registered in the state medical register. This move is expected to benefit nearly one lakh homeopathy practitioners across Maharashtra.

This significant development came after consistent efforts by RTI Activist Anil Galgali, who officially wrote to the state government on March 11, 2025, demanding implementation of the relevant provisions under the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners (Amendment) Act, 2014.

In a letter  Mr Galgali Highlights that The CCMP course, introduced in 2016 by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, is conducted at 33 government medical colleges. Over 15,000 homeopathy doctors have already completed this training. Registration of these doctors was mandated under the amended law, but implementation was pending for years. The delay had also resulted in loss of significant government revenue. Upon CCMP completion, doctors are legally permitted to prescribe allopathic medicines in specific conditions.

Dr. Dinesh Salunke also played a proactive role in this issue. He personally met with Anil Galgali to explain the legal and administrative lapses and coordinated with key officials from the Medical Council, Medical Education, and Health Departments to expedite action.

Previously, homeopathy doctors were not allowed to practice allopathy. However, the state government granted permission post-CCMP certification. Now, with the registration process officially beginning under MMC, their practice becomes legal, recognized, and protected.

Anil Galgali’s Intervention Was Instrumental to clear the demands of homeopathy doctors.
Anil Galgali persistently followed up with the state government, Medical Council, and Health Department, raising the issue through RTI applications and formal correspondence. His advocacy led to the government finally acknowledging and acting on the matter — resulting in this historic reform that benefits both the healthcare sector and the state's revenue system.
