Bandra Police Book Two Women for Allegedly Attempting to Kidnap Schoolboys from Convent School

Mumbai, July 4 : In a shocking incident, the Bandra Police have registered a case against two unidentified women for allegedly attempting to kidnap two minor boys from a reputed convent school on Chapel Road, Bandra. The case was filed on Thursday, and police have launched an investigation, including scanning CCTV footage to trace the suspects.
According to officials, the incident occurred on Wednesday, when the two women approached the school reception and submitted a handwritten application seeking permission to take the two children, aged five and seven, claiming to be their grandmother and aunt.
The vigilant school staff, sensing something suspicious, refused to release the children without verifying the women’s claims. They immediately contacted the children's parents, who confirmed that they did not recognize the women and had not authorized anyone to pick up the boys.
A police officer familiar with the case said, “This appears to be a well-thought-out plan, but the prompt response from school staff prevented any harm. We are investigating all possible angles, including whether this was motivated by a personal rivalry or custody dispute.”
The Bandra Police have filed an FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those related to attempted kidnapping. Investigators are analyzing surveillance footage from the school and nearby areas to identify the women and establish their motive.
Police are also taking statements from school staff, the children’s parents, and other potential witnesses as part of the probe.
The incident has raised serious concerns about school security and the vulnerability of children in educational institutions. Authorities have urged schools to strictly verify the identity of guardians during student pickups and called on parents to educate their children about staying safe.
No arrests had been made as of Friday morning, and the investigation is ongoing.
