CM Devendra Fadnavis Joins 'Warkari BhaktiYog' Program on International Yoga Day in Pune
Pune, June 21, 2025 : On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis participated in the 'Warkari BhaktiYog' program held in Pune. The unique event, blending the age-old Warkari tradition with the ancient Indian practice of yoga, witnessed participation from lakhs of Warkaris and dignitaries alike.
Present at the grand spiritual gathering were Minister Chandrakant Patil, Minister of State Madhuri Misal, Professor Sadanand More, and several other key leaders. The event was organised with the aim of promoting harmony between body, mind, and soul, in alignment with the philosophy of Bhakti Yoga.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), CM Fadnavis shared glimpses from the event and reflected on the spiritual synergy between yoga and Warkari Bhakti. “Yoga is not just a practice but a part of our culture and tradition. It rejuvenates the body and mind and is now recognised globally as a powerful healing tool,” he said.
He further emphasized how Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision brought International Yoga Day to the global stage. “It is the only proposal in UN history unanimously supported by all member countries,” CM Fadnavis noted, highlighting the significance of Yoga Day, now celebrated globally for 11 years.
Underlining the 'One Earth, One Health' initiative promoted by PM Modi, the Chief Minister praised the Warkari community for actively embodying this philosophy. “We are fortunate to celebrate Yoga Day with the Warkaris after the Wari’s stay in Pune,” he added.
The event was led by Savitribai Phule Pune University, a proud host of this spiritual convergence. Notably, students from over 700 colleges across the state participated, as did numerous Dindis (pilgrim groups), who practiced yoga simultaneously at their halting stations.
CM Fadnavis concluded by lauding Pune’s contribution to giving a new dimension to the Wari. “May this beautiful tradition continue, and let us stay committed to building a healthy and prosperous society,” he expressed.
