Woman and Son Attacked in Road Rage Incident on Palm Beach Road

Navi Mumbai: A woman and her 5-year-old son were assaulted by three drunk men in a shocking road rage incident on Palm Beach Road, Ghansoli, on Thursday. The woman, Nikhita Handore (37), was driving towards Koparkhairane when her car nearly grazed a bike carrying three men riding triple seat.

An argument ensued, escalating into violence when one of the men smashed her car’s windshield with an iron rod and attacked her. Nikhita shielded her son, sustaining injuries on her hand. A crowd gathered at the scene, detaining one of the assailants, Paresh Patel, while the other two fled.

Rabale police later arrested the absconders, Ramesh Patel (30) and Savji alias Shiv Koli (24), on Saturday evening. All three accused, employed in MIDC firms, have been remanded to judicial custody by the Vashi JMFC court.

Senior Inspector Balkrushna Sawant revealed the argument started when the child briefly held the car's steering, causing the vehicle to veer slightly. Despite Nikhita regaining control and explaining the situation, the intoxicated men launched a brutal attack, disregarding her pleas to spare her child.

The incident has sparked outrage, highlighting concerns over road safety and growing instances of violence on city roads.
