Mira Bhayandar: Two Members of Inter-State Chain Snatcher Gang Arrested in Gujarat

In a joint operation, the crime detection unit of Valiv police, along with Manekpur officers, arrested two members of an inter-state chain-snatching gang from Gujarat. The kingpin, Kanhaiya Ramabhai Solanki (45), was apprehended in Himmat Nagar, Gujarat, while his accomplice, Mohammed Sharif Fareed Khan (55), was arrested from Bhandup.

The duo had robbed a pedestrian's gold chain on Gokhivare-Talao Road, Vasai, in late November. Acting on a rise in chain-snatching incidents, police intensified their investigation, leading to the arrests. Solanki’s confession revealed Khan's involvement, and further probe indicated the pair’s involvement in similar crimes across Gujarat and Mumbai, including Bandra and Kalyan.

The police recovered stolen jewelry worth Rs. 1.09 lakh. Both accused have been booked under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Investigations are ongoing.
