Mumbai, April 26:A 40-year-old man lost his life after falling from a local train near Dombivli in the early hours of Friday. The deceased, identified as Sandeep Surve, a resident of Kalwa in Thane, was reportedly commuting from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Dombivli when the tragic incident occurred around 12:45 AM.

According to officials from the Mumbai Central Government Railway Police (GRP), Surve fell from a slow-moving local train and sustained severe injuries to his head and body. He was rushed to Nair Hospital, where doctors declared him dead approximately an hour later.

An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered, and the GRP has launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. “As of now, we have ruled out the possibility of suicide,” said a railway police officer. “However, we will continue our inquiry, and if any signs of foul play or suicide emerge, appropriate charges will be filed.”

Following a post-mortem, Surve’s body was handed over to his wife, Sakshi Surve. The grieving family, who reside in Kalwa, is reportedly in a state of deep shock. Police have not yet been able to gather complete personal or professional details about the deceased. “We will speak to his wife once she is in a condition to assist with the investigation,” the officer added.

Railway authorities have reiterated the importance of commuter safety and urged passengers to remain vigilant while travelling, particularly during late hours.
