Locals in Barmer Applaud Operation Sindoor, Express Pride in Indian Armed Forces

A wave of patriotism and pride swept through Barmer, a border district in Rajasthan, as locals reacted positively to the Indian Armed Forces’ decisive military action under Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

The operation, launched late Wednesday night, struck nine strategic locations believed to house top leadership of terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), both of which have been responsible for orchestrating attacks on Indian soil. According to defence sources, this is India's deepest strike into Pakistan’s undisputed territory since the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Bhagirath Gosai, a local resident of Barmer, expressed his emotional response upon hearing the news. “When I woke up today and got this information, I was extremely happy. It was important to teach the terrorists a lesson for killing Hindus by asking their religion in Pahalgam,” he said, referring to the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed several innocent lives.

Echoing the sentiment, another resident, Shakoor Khan, praised the Indian Army’s swift response. “I am very happy that we have taken revenge. We stand with the Indian Army. We are ready to fight for India. I feel very proud,” he remarked.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has reportedly held consultations with the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force to assess the outcomes of the strikes. A press briefing by the Ministry of Defence has been scheduled for 10:00 AM on Wednesday to provide further details on the operation.

In a formal statement, the Ministry of Defence confirmed the success of the mission, stating: “A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched 'OPERATION SINDOOR', hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.”

This military action comes as a response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, and aims to dismantle the network enabling cross-border terrorism. As the nation awaits more details, the people of Barmer—and across India—continue to express their solidarity with the armed forces.
