Low Pressure Developing in Bay of Bengal; Conditions in Bengal May Deteriorate

Kolkata: The flood situation in some parts of South Bengal remains concerning. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department reported on Friday that it is closely monitoring the potential formation of a low-pressure area in the northwestern part of the Bay of Bengal around September 23.

Weather officials stated that there is a possibility of a cyclonic circulation forming north of the Andaman Sea, which could develop into a low-pressure area in the northwestern Bay of Bengal around September 23. They are keeping a close watch on the activities of this weather system.

In the meantime, the West Bengal government is providing relief to thousands of people affected by floods in Howrah, Hooghly, West Medinipur, and North and South 24 Parganas districts, as confirmed by a state official.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) responsible for the floods, stating that the release of water from the Maithon and Panchyet dams has caused the flooding in some districts. She described the situation as a conspiracy against the state.
