Lucknow Super Giants Edge Mumbai Indians by 12 Runs in Thrilling IPL 2025 Clash

Lucknow: In a nail-biting encounter at the Ekana International Stadium, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) emerged victorious over the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 12 runs, despite a stellar performance from MI skipper Hardik Pandya.
LSG, aiming for their second win after a recent defeat to Punjab Kings, posted an imposing total, crossing the 200-run mark. The standout performances came from Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, who both scored half-centuries, helping LSG set a challenging target of 204 for MI.
Hardik Pandya’s brilliant bowling spell, which saw him take five wickets, gave Mumbai a glimmer of hope. However, his efforts were not enough as Mumbai Indians fell short in their run chase. Suryakumar Yadav also played a crucial role with a valiant 67, but MI’s innings couldn’t withstand the pressure, eventually ending their chase 12 runs short.
The match witnessed a thrilling contest as both teams showcased their strengths. MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that seemed promising as his bowling attack initially kept LSG in check. However, LSG’s middle-order resilience, led by Marsh and Markram, turned the game around.
Mumbai Indians had to cope without their star opener Rohit Sharma, who was absent from the playing XI. Akash Deep replaced Manimaran Siddharth, adding depth to the bowling lineup. Despite the absence of key players, MI showed grit, but their chase faltered under pressure.
Digvesh Rathi’s economical 4-over spell, taking 1 wicket for just 21 runs, proved pivotal in restricting MI’s progress.
With this win, LSG bounced back after their loss to Punjab Kings, while Mumbai Indians, despite their impressive comeback against KKR in their last match, couldn’t maintain the momentum.
As both teams continue their IPL 2025 campaigns, the clash highlighted the competitive spirit of the tournament, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next encounter.
