Maharashtra Govt Transfers 26 IPS Officers in Major Reshuffle

Mumbai, May 17 – In a major administrative shake-up, the Maharashtra government on Friday transferred 26 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the state, with key appointments made in Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur. The reshuffle aims to enhance law enforcement and streamline police administration in key urban centers.

Among the notable changes, Rakesh Kalasagar has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Railway Police, replacing a Special IG-rank officer. Significantly, the post has now been downgraded to IG rank. Kalasagar was earlier serving with the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) in Amravati.

In Mumbai, several high-profile postings were announced:

  • Dhananjay Kulkarni takes over as Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Branch).

  • Shailesh Balkawade, previously Additional CP (Crime), Pune, has been appointed Additional CP, Mumbai Crime Branch.

  • Anil Parasakar, Additional CP (Central Region), is now Additional CP, Protection & Security.

  • Shashi Kumar Meena, formerly with the Crime Branch, is now Additional CP, North Region.

  • Vinita Sahu has been posted as Additional CP, Local Arms, and

  • Priyanka Narnavare as Additional CP, Mumbai Traffic.

In Pune, key changes include:

  • Sanjay Patil as Additional CP, Pune City.

  • Pankaj Deshmukh and Rajesh Bansode also join as Additional Commissioners of Police in Pune.

  • M. Ramkumar, previously handling traffic duties, is now Additional CP, State Intelligence (Pune).

Nagpur City has seen appointments of:

  • Praveen Patil and Vasant Pardeshi as Additional Commissioners, while

  • Rajendra Dabhade also joins as Additional CP.

Other notable postings across the state include:

  • S. D. Ahwad as Additional CP, Pimpri-Chinchwad.

  • S. T. Rathod as DIG, Anti-Narcotics Task Force.

  • P. P. Shewale as DIG, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

  • A. A. Chavaria has been made Commissioner of Police, Amravati.

  • Amogh Gaokar is now DIG, State Crime Detection (Admin).

  • Mokshada Patil takes over as DIG, SRPF.

  • Vijay Magar is the new DIG, Pune SRPF.

  • Suresh Mengade has been appointed as CIDCO’s Competent Authority.

  • Vikram Deshmane becomes Additional CP, Central Region, Mumbai.

The large-scale reshuffle is being viewed as part of a strategic effort to bolster policing and administrative effectiveness across key regions of Maharashtra.
