Mumbai Police Issues Holi Advisory: Know the Do’s & Don’ts

Mumbai, India:  To ensure public safety and maintain order during Holi, Dhulivandan, and Rang Panchami, the Mumbai Police have issued strict guidelines from March 12 to March 18. The advisory, released by Deputy Commissioner of Police Akbar Pathan, prohibits certain practices, including spraying colors on pedestrians and throwing water balloons.

What’s Not Allowed?

  • Obscene acts and slogans – Singing vulgar songs or using offensive language in public is banned.

  • Offensive gestures and symbols – Any acts or objects that offend decency and morality are prohibited.

  • Spraying colors on pedestrians – Throwing colored water, dyes, or powder on unwilling individuals is forbidden.

  • Throwing water balloons – The use of water-filled balloons, whether colored or plain, is strictly not allowed.

Violators of these restrictions will face legal action under Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951. The police have urged citizens to celebrate responsibly while respecting public decorum and safety.
