Major Tragedy Averted as Alliance Air Flight Faces Landing Glitch in Shimla

Shimla, Himachal Pradesh: A major disaster was narrowly avoided at Jubbarhatti Airport on Monday when an Alliance Air flight carrying Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and DGP Atul Verma faced a technical glitch during landing. The aircraft, with 44 passengers on board, overshot the runway before the pilot applied emergency brakes just in time to prevent an accident.

According to reports, the flight, which operates between Delhi, Shimla, and Dharamsala, encountered an issue preventing it from slowing down on approach. The sudden application of emergency brakes brought the aircraft to a halt at the very edge of the runway, averting what could have been a catastrophic event.

Following the incident, Deputy CM Agnihotri confirmed that the plane did not land at its usual spot and only stopped after a sharp turn at the runway's end. Passengers were kept inside the plane for nearly 25 minutes after the emergency halt. As a precaution, the scheduled flight to Dharamsala was cancelled.

Alliance Air has yet to issue an official statement on the technical failure or the safety measures implemented.
