Man Sentenced to Life for Assaulting Disabled Child in Mumbai

Navi Mumbai: A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a special court under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for assaulting his partner’s 11-year-old disabled daughter in May 2019.

The victim's mother, who had recently moved in with the accused, reported that her daughter, who has a physical disability, had complained of distress. Upon further investigation, the child revealed the incident.

The prosecution, led by public prosecutor Rupali Metkewar, presented evidence from witnesses, including the victim and her mother. Based on the victim's consistent testimony and medical evidence, the court delivered its verdict, ensuring justice for the young girl.
