Marve-Manori Bridge to Revolutionize Commutes: Key Approvals Secured

Marve-Manori, Mumbai: The long-awaited Marve-Manori bridge has taken a significant step forward, with the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) granting clearance for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) ambitious 1.5-km project. This development promises to drastically cut travel time between Marve and Manori from two hours to mere minutes, reducing the current road distance from 29 km to just 1.5 km.

The bridge, set to span 410 meters with three strategically placed pillars, will transform connectivity to the Gorai-Manori-Uttan region. However, its approval comes with stringent environmental safeguards. Approximately 0.020 hectares of mangroves and 45 trees at Village Marve will be impacted, but compensatory mangrove plantations will be undertaken in Palghar at a 3:1 ratio.

As per the MCZMA conditions, the project must adhere to CRZ Notification 2019 and secure No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the mangrove cell. Measures like scientific debris processing, carbon sequestration monitoring, and strict adherence to environmental norms have been mandated to minimize ecological disruption.

This bridge is not just a step toward faster commutes but also an example of balancing infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.
