Meerut, March 24, 2025 – The brutal murder of Saurabh Rajput, a Merchant Navy officer from Meerut, has taken a shocking turn with new details emerging from the ongoing investigation. Muskaan Rastogi, the wife of the victim, and her lover Sahil Shukla have been arrested in connection with the murder, and authorities have uncovered a series of disturbing actions leading up to the crime.
According to the police, Muskaan altered a doctor’s prescription to purchase a sedative injection, which was used to incapacitate her husband before carrying out the murder. "Muskaan forged a prescription to buy the sedative injection," said the police. "After a thorough investigation at the medical store where the injection was purchased, we found that the drugs she used were only available with a valid prescription, raising suspicion that the prescription had been tampered with."
Meerut's Drug Inspector, Piyush Sharma, confirmed the details, saying, "We have been gathering information about the drugs and sedative injections used by Muskaan. These medications cannot be sold without a doctor’s prescription. However, Muskaan managed to buy them because she altered the prescription."
Authorities are now reviewing medical records from the past two years. Once sufficient evidence is gathered, criminal charges may be filed against the medical store owner, and the store’s license could be revoked. Sharma further explained, “Selling sleeping pills and antidepressants without a prescription is illegal. We are also investigating whether the medical store maintained proper records of such drug sales, as required by law.”
Drug Addiction and Prison Demands
In a further twist, it has been revealed that both Muskaan and Sahil Shukla have a history of drug addiction. Reports suggest that the couple has been requesting narcotics even while in prison and have reportedly rejected prison food, as stated by Hindustan Times.
The Brutal Murder
The investigation has revealed the chilling details of the crime that took place on March 4. Muskaan and Sahil conspired to murder Saurabh by stabbing him with a knife. After killing him, they dismembered his body and concealed the remains in a drum, which was later filled with cement. Following the gruesome act, the couple fled to Himachal Pradesh in an attempt to cover up their crime.
