MNS Worker Killed in Mob Attack in Malad, Six Arrested

Mumbai: In a shocking incident near Malad East Railway Station on October 13, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) worker Akash Main was brutally beaten to death by a mob following a road rage altercation. The police have arrested six individuals in connection with the case. Akash’s wife, Anushree Main, lodged a complaint at Dindoshi Police Station, leading to a murder case being registered.

Akash Main, 31, who resided in Hyderabad, had returned to Mumbai for the Dussehra celebrations. On October 13, while passing through Shivaji Chowk in Malad East on his motorcycle, he got into a minor dispute with an auto-rickshaw driver. This disagreement escalated, and a group of the rickshaw driver’s associates and local vendors gathered around. Approximately 10 to 15 individuals attacked Akash, severely injuring him. He was rushed to the nearby trauma care hospital, but tragically, he passed away around midnight due to his injuries.Using CCTV footage, the police quickly identified and arrested six suspects, including Avinash Namdev Kadam, Amit Joginder Vishwakarma, Aditya Dinesh Singh, Jayprakash Deepak Amte, Rakesh Malku Dhawale, and Sahil Sikander Kadam. According to the police, several of these individuals have prior criminal records.

MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande expressed anger over the incident, stating, “Akash Main was a dedicated MNS worker. He was attacked by a mob of rickshaw drivers and street vendors, leading to his untimely death. The government must take strict action to prevent such incidents and ensure that the culprits receive the harshest punishment.”Avinash Kadam has previous cases registered against him for assault at Pantnagar and Borivali Police Stations, while Aditya Singh and Jayprakash Amte were involved in a 2019 assault case registered at Dindoshi Police Station.

Former minister Jitendra Awhad also weighed in on the matter, tweeting about the growing crime and deteriorating law and order situation in Mumbai.This incident not only highlights the increasing lawlessness in Mumbai but also raises concerns about the devastating consequences of mob violence. The next steps taken by the police to bring justice to the victim’s family will be closely watched.
