Motorcyclist Killed in Collision With SUV Allegedly Driven by BJP MLA’s Son in Maharashtra

Mumbai, July 9: A 34-year-old man lost his life in a tragic road accident late Monday night after his motorcycle was struck by an SUV allegedly driven by Sagar Dhas, the son of BJP MLA Suresh Dhas, in Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place around 10:30 PM near Jategaon junction on the Ahilyanagar-Pune Road in Supa. The victim, identified as Nitin Shelke, a resident of Parner, was reportedly crossing the road on his motorbike when a speeding MG Gloster SUV rammed into him, as per a complaint filed by the victim’s brother.
According to police officials, Sagar Dhas (26), son of Ashti MLA Suresh Dhas, was behind the wheel at the time of the incident and was accompanied by a friend. Shelke suffered grievous injuries and lost consciousness immediately after the collision. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The Supa police have registered an accidental death report, and an investigation is currently underway. Authorities are yet to confirm whether Sagar Dhas was indeed driving at the time, and if any charges such as rash or negligent driving will be added as the probe progresses.
The incident has stirred public outcry on social media, with demands for accountability and fair investigation, especially in cases involving politically connected individuals.
