Mumbai Local Train Update: Western Railway Announces Mega Night Blocks Between Mahim and Bandra for Crucial Bridge Work (April 11–13)

Mumbai, April 10: In a major move to upgrade its infrastructure, Western Railway (WR) has announced night mega blocks between Mahim and Bandra stations on the intervening nights of April 11–12 (Friday–Saturday) and April 12–13 (Saturday–Sunday), 2025. This is part of essential regirdering work of Bridge No. 20, aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of train operations.

The block will result in the cancellation of nearly 300 local train services over the weekend and will also affect multiple long-distance trains through delays, diversions, rescheduling, and partial cancellations.

Block Timings:

  • April 11/12 (Friday/Saturday):

    • Slow Lines: 11:00 PM – 8:30 AM

    • Down Fast Line: 12:30 AM – 6:30 AM

  • April 12/13 (Saturday/Sunday):

    • Slow and Down Fast Lines: 11:30 PM – 9:00 AM

    • UP Fast Line: 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM

Suburban Service Modifications:

  • Trains departing Churchgate post 10:23 PM will run on Fast Line between Mumbai Central and Santacruz, skipping halts at Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Matunga Road, Mahim, and Khar Road.

  • Select trains from Virar, Bhayandar, and Borivali will also run on Fast Lines, bypassing the same stations.

  • The last slow train from Churchgate on Friday will depart at 10:23 PM for Bhayander, and the last fast service at 11:40 PM for Virar.

  • First services on Saturday will begin around 5:47 AM from Virar to Churchgate, with limited stops on Fast Line.

During the block period:

  • Services between Churchgate and Dadar will operate on Fast Lines.

  • Services between Goregaon and Bandra will use the Harbour Line.

  • Services between Virar and Andheri will run on both Slow and Fast Lines.

Sunday Morning Train Resumptions:

  • First slow service from Virar to Churchgate: 8:08 AM

  • First fast service from Virar to Churchgate: 8:18 AM

  • First AC service from Bhayander to Churchgate: 8:24 AM

  • First fast train from Churchgate to Virar: 9:03 AM

Long-Distance Train Disruptions:

Several Mail and Express trains will see short-terminations at Borivali or Palghar and short-originations from Borivali. These include trains such as:

  • 12927 Dadar–Ekta Nagar SF Express

  • 19003 Dadar–Bhusaval Express

  • 19015 Dadar–Porbandar Express

  • 22946 Okha–Mumbai Central Saurashtra Mail, among others.

Rescheduled Trains:

Major trains such as the Mumbai–Gandhinagar Vande Bharat, Shatabdi Express, Gujarat Superfast Express, Rajdhani Express, and others will operate on revised timings on April 12 and 13.

For example:

  • Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 20901) will depart at 6:15 AM (April 12) and 8:50 AM (April 13).

  • Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12009) will depart at 6:30 AM on April 12.

Western Railway has urged passengers to check updated train timings and plan their travel accordingly. “The inconvenience is regretted, but the work is essential for long-term structural safety and modernization of our railway infrastructure,” an official stated.
