Mumbai: Man Blackmailed by Woman and Accomplices, Loses Rs 36.89 Lakh

Mumbai, Kandivali: A 60-year-old man from Kandivali (West), Mumbai, has filed a police complaint against a woman he was dating, along with her daughter and the daughter's 21-year-old friend, for allegedly blackmailing him and extorting Rs 36.89 lakh in cash, valuables, and UPI transfers.

According to police, the victim, employed at a real estate firm, was in a relationship with the woman for the past few months. The accused trio allegedly began threatening to expose the affair to his wife, demanding money and valuables in exchange for their silence.

The ordeal started in August when the youth allegedly robbed the man of Rs 14,500 at knifepoint while dropping him home. Over the following months, they extracted Rs 30.88 lakh in cash, Rs 3.98 lakh through UPI, and an iPhone 14 Pro Max worth Rs 1.88 lakh.

Unable to endure their demands, which escalated to Rs 1.40 crore on December 10, the man finally approached the police.

Authorities arrested the youth on Friday and are searching for the woman and her daughter. A case has been filed under sections 309(4), 308(2), 308(3), and 3(5) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
