Mumbai Metro 1 Launches Shuttle Service to Ease Rush Hour Travel

Mumbai, India: To tackle peak-hour congestion, Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd is introducing a new shuttle service between Andheri and Ghatkopar stations on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor. The service, currently under trial, aims to accommodate 5,000 additional passengers and improve travel efficiency.
During a successful March 6 trial, alternate trains ran between Versova and Andheri, while others continued to Ghatkopar. A Mumbai Metro One official stated, "We tested a new schedule to assess the possibility of increasing frequency. The results were encouraging, and further analysis is underway to optimize operations."
The service is expected to reduce train headway from 220 to 205 seconds, increasing capacity by 8%. Currently, Metro One runs 430 trips daily, operating from 5:30 AM to 11:25 PM from Versova and until 11:50 PM from Ghatkopar.
