Tragic Footpath Death: Speeding Creta Claims Life of 4-Year-Old in Mumbai

Mumbai, Maharashtra: A heartbreaking incident unfolded near Ambedkar College in Wadala, where a speeding Hyundai Creta, driven by a 19-year-old, fatally struck four-year-old Ayush Laxman Kinvade. The child, whose family resides on the footpath, succumbed to injuries. His father works as a laborer, according to the police.

The teen driver, identified as Sandeep Gole from Vile Parle, has been arrested. Investigations into the tragic case are ongoing.

This accident adds to Mumbai's troubling record of road safety violations, following the December 9 catastrophe in Kurla, where a driver lost control of an electric bus. That incident claimed seven lives, injured 42, and damaged over 20 vehicles, further highlighting the region’s traffic safety issues.

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways recently ranked Maharashtra as one of the top states for road accidents, with 66,370 deaths reported between 2018 and 2022.
