Mumbai Metro Line 2B Trial Run Set to Begin from Mandale to Diamond Garden

Mumbai: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is set to energise a key 5.6km stretch of Metro Line 2B between Mandale and Diamond Garden starting April 8, marking a major milestone toward operational readiness.

Electrification of the overhead equipment (OHE) at the Mandale depot’s test track has been completed, and the first metro train has been successfully rolled out, paving the way for trial runs.

“This is an important step to begin trial runs and prepare for full operations. We plan to make the Mandale to Diamond Garden section operational before the end of the year,” said an MMRDA official.

Metro Line 2B is part of a 23.6km elevated corridor, and the authority is implementing it in phases to ensure timely rollout.

The energisation marks a significant development in Mumbai’s expanding metro network, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and improve public transport accessibility across the city.
