Navi Mumbai Water Cut Alert: CIDCO Announces 24-Hour Suspension on April 9-10; Kharghar, Panvel & More Affected

Navi Mumbai: The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has announced a planned 24-hour water supply suspension in several areas of Navi Mumbai due to urgent repair work on the Hetawane Water Supply Line. The maintenance will begin at 6:00 AM on April 9, 2025, and will continue until 6:00 AM on April 10, 2025.
Affected areas include Panvel, Kamothe, Taloja, Kharghar, Karanjade, and nearby localities. CIDCO has urged residents to cooperate during this period and to use water judiciously to avoid any inconvenience.
Morbe Dam Holds Sufficient Water for 5 Months
Despite the temporary water cut, there’s no need for concern regarding the city’s overall water supply. The Morbe Dam, Navi Mumbai's primary water source, currently holds about 102 Million Cubic Meters (MCM) of water, enough to meet the city’s needs for around 149 days. This supply is expected to last even if the monsoon is delayed.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has emphasized the importance of water conservation. He urged residents to avoid using hoses for cleaning society premises or washing vehicles and to ensure potable water is not wasted. Additionally, he reminded citizens to check for leaking taps and turn them off properly when not in use.
Although the dam’s total capacity is 190 MCM, the current level of 102 MCM is sufficient for now if used wisely.
