Mumbai Metro Line 3 Joins ONDC: Commuters Can Now Book QR Tickets via Multiple Apps

Mumbai | June 19, 2025 : In a significant boost to digital mobility and commuter convenience, Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) has officially been integrated with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform. Commuters can now book QR code-based tickets instantly using a range of popular travel and ticketing apps.

The new ticketing option is available through apps like EaseMyTrip, RedBus, OneTicket, Tummoc, Yatri – City Travel Guide, Highway Delite, and Miles & Kilometres (via Telegram). The initiative allows for quick, cashless, and hassle-free travel across multiple metro corridors in Mumbai.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the official Mumbai Metro Line 3 handle on X (formerly Twitter). The update noted that commuters across Metro Lines 1, 2A, 3, and 7 can now conveniently plan and pay for their journeys with just a few taps on their smartphones.

Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, is the city’s first fully underground metro corridor, offering vital connectivity through South and Central Mumbai. The other lines—Line 1 (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar), Line 2A (Dahisar East to Andheri West), and Line 7 (Dahisar East to Andheri East)—are primarily elevated and serve key residential and business districts.

This integration with ONDC is part of a broader initiative to unify and simplify digital ticketing across Mumbai’s transit system, making travel more accessible and efficient for the city’s growing commuter base.

In a parallel development, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) also launched QR code-based paper ticketing for Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 on Wednesday. The system was officially inaugurated at Belapur Metro Station by Shantanu Goel, Joint Managing Director of CIDCO, in the presence of senior CIDCO and Maha Metro officials.

The move marks a significant milestone in CIDCO’s Common Mobility Solution vision, aiming to bring together various public transport systems under a single, interoperable digital framework.

With digital ticketing gaining traction, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai's metro networks are taking decisive steps toward building a smart, connected, and commuter-friendly transit ecosystem for millions of daily riders.
