Aarey Police Push for Speed Breakers to Curb Rising Accidents

Mumbai, India: Concerned over a surge in speeding-related accidents on Aarey Milk Colony Road, the Aarey police have urged the traffic department to install speed breakers and rumblers at 11 accident-prone locations. The demand follows multiple incidents reported after the cement concretization of the road connecting Goregaon, Powai, and Marol.

Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Patil emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “Two-wheelers and four-wheelers are speeding excessively, causing a rise in accidents. We have identified high-risk spots where speed breakers should be installed.” The police have also proposed traffic signals at Unit 5 and Picnic Point, two of the busiest junctions.

Rising Concerns Over Speeding

  • Since the road’s reconstruction, at least four people have lost their lives in accidents.

  • Earlier speed breakers and warning signage were removed during construction.

  • Wildlife activists and locals warn that reckless driving threatens both pedestrians and animals.

  • Over 25,000 vehicles use Aarey Road daily, making it a crucial commuting route.

Key Locations Suggested for Speed Breakers:

✅ Sankraman Studio (1)
✅ Near Chhota Kashmir Lake (4)
✅ Near Unit 6 (2)
✅ Between Aarey Hospital Junction and Modern Bakery (2)
✅ Near Unit 19 (2)

The urgency for road safety intensified after a biker died on February 8, crashing into a bus in Aarey Milk Colony. Locals have called for stricter patrolling and immediate action against speeding motorists.
