Mumbai NCB Busts Drug Lab, Seizes ₹50 Crore Worth of Mephedrone

Mumbai, Maharashtra: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has dismantled a clandestine drug lab and seized 46.8 kg of Mephedrone (MD) worth ₹50 crore. The operation, conducted in Mumbai’s Bhandup area, led to the arrest of two individuals.

Drug Lab Uncovered in Mahad Industrial Area

Acting on intelligence inputs, NCB officers raided a residence in Bhandup, where they discovered the illegal narcotic stored in plastic containers. Upon interrogation, the accused revealed that the drug was manufactured at a secret laboratory in Mahad Industrial Area, Raigad District. Following this lead, NCB launched a second raid, uncovering suspicious chemicals used for Mephedrone production.

Repeat Offender Under Scrutiny

Further investigation exposed that the supplier has two previous cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). He was out on bail at the time of the operation, raising concerns about repeat offenders in drug syndicates.

NCB's War Against Drugs Continues

This seizure aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Drug-Free India’ (Nasha Mukt Bharat) and follows directives from the Union Home Minister to crack down on drug networks. The NCB remains committed to dismantling organized crime in the narcotics trade and urges citizens to report drug-related activities.
