Mumbai News: 72-Year-Old Woman Jump From 7th floor in Dahisar Building....Health Issues Cited in Note

Mumbai, May 14: A 72-year-old woman passed away on Tuesday afternoon after falling from the seventh floor of a residential building in Dahisar. The woman, identified as Merlin Menon, had been living alone for the past six months following the loss of her husband.

According to officials from the MHB Police Station, a note was recovered from the residence indicating that she had been struggling with prolonged health issues and emotional distress. Her passing has been recorded as an accidental death, and further inquiries are ongoing to confirm the circumstances.

Menon had moved into the New Heritage building in Dahisar recently and was reportedly dealing with age-related illness. The building watchman, who first discovered the incident, promptly alerted authorities.

In a separate case in Pune’s Ambegaon area, a 34-year-old woman, Madhuri Kokane, also passed away under distressing circumstances. Based on a complaint filed by a family member, local police have initiated an investigation under charges of abetment, following allegations of domestic harassment.

The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station has registered a case against two individuals — Vikas Kokane (36) and Archana Ahire — under relevant sections of the BNS Act. One individual has been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.

Both incidents highlight the importance of emotional support and community awareness around mental and physical health, especially among the elderly and women in vulnerable domestic situations.

Authorities have encouraged individuals and families to seek help and utilize available resources in times of distress.
