Mumbai News: Schoolgirl Punched, Kicked, and Dragged by Hair After Argument in Versova

Mumbai:In Mumbai a distressing incident involving a schoolgirl being beaten by a group of girls has come to light. The attack, which reportedly took place two weeks ago on Yari Road in Versova, was captured in a viral video circulating on social media.
The footage shows a group of girls assaulting the schoolgirl, who is dressed in her school uniform. The attackers are seen throwing punches and kicks, dragging the victim by her hair, and using offensive language. Despite her attempts to get up and seek help from a friend, the violence continues as one of the attackers demands that she come back and hurls more slurs.
The video, marked by expletives and graphic violence, also depicts a boy intervening later to pull the victim up and tell her to leave. Witnesses, including some passersby on scooters, observed the scene but did not intervene.
Versova Police Station officials, along with the Sneha Foundation and the Child Welfare Committee, have conducted counseling sessions for all the involved girls and their parents. The principals of the schools attended by the girls have been notified. The police are investigating who disseminated the video and are monitoring the situation closely. The Nirbhaya squad, a special cell dedicated to preventing crimes against women and children, has intensified patrols in the area.
The police reported that all individuals involved are minors from the same locality, and the fight erupted from a minor argument. They are actively working on the case to ensure appropriate measures are taken.
