Mumbai Police Leads 'Drug-Free Mumbai' Campaign with Rallies and Cyclothon Across the City
Mass awareness drive marks International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Mumbai, June 26: In a united stand against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, the Mumbai Police on Thursday conducted awareness rallies and campaigns across the city as part of the ‘Drug-Free Mumbai’ initiative, aligning with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, citizens, and police personnel, who marched through the streets carrying banners with slogans like “Say No to Drugs” and “Say Yes to Life”, spreading the message of a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.
Mumbai Police shared visuals of the rally on their official social media platforms, highlighting the strong public engagement and collective resolve to fight the drug menace. These efforts are part of a broader national initiative, the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’, launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, and supported at the state level under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis through the ‘Drug-Free Maharashtra’ campaign.
In addition to the city-wide rallies, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), in collaboration with Mumbai Police, organised a special cyclothon from Bandra to Juhu on Sunday as a precursor to the June 26 observance. The event drew over 450 participants from all age groups and genders. Starting from the Bandra Reclamation Bus Depot and ending at Juhu Beach, the cyclothon aimed to promote physical fitness and drug-free living.
“This campaign is not just a police initiative, but a people's movement,” said a senior police officer, emphasizing the importance of community participation in fighting substance abuse.
The combined efforts of Mumbai Police, NCB, and the local community reflect a growing awareness and determination to combat the rise of narcotic abuse among youth and vulnerable groups. Officials reiterated their commitment to taking both preventive and legal action to ensure a drug-free future for Mumbai.
