Mumbai’s Aarey Roads Crumbling Just Months After Construction

Aarey Milk Colony, Mumbai: The newly constructed cement concrete (CC) roads in Aarey Milk Colony are already developing cracks and peeling, raising concerns among residents about poor-quality work and potential damage during the monsoon.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has been repairing 45 km of internal roads in Aarey, with some stretches being concreted. However, just six months after completion, the road between Royal Palms and Aarey Market has started showing visible cracks. At one location, the concrete surface is peeling off, alarming residents.

Residents Demand Action

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Aarey resident Sandeep Gadhave has accused authorities of using substandard materials and demanded action against the contractor and PWD officials. He has also urged an independent inspection to ensure the same issues do not occur in other stretches under construction.

Despite repeated attempts, PWD officials were unavailable for comment.
