Navi Mumbai, India: A 15-year-old boy, Dipanshu Bauddh, lost his life in a hit-and-run accident at Turbhe Naka on Wednesday afternoon while on his way to collect a printout of his Std X board exam hall ticket.

A resident of Indira Nagar, Turbhe MIDC, Dipanshu was cycling with his friend Altaf when a speeding dumper struck him from behind near Pfizer Road, throwing him several meters away. Altaf, who witnessed the accident, screamed for help, and bystanders rushed Dipanshu to NMMC Government Hospital. Due to his critical condition, he was later shifted to Sion Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries early Thursday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, Dipanshu tried to pass between large vehicles when the dumper, unaware of his approach, hit him. Senior Inspector Abasaheb Patil from MIDC Turbhe Police Station stated that the dumper’s original driver had handed over the vehicle to the accused, Rajkumar Rai (27) from Jharkhand, who fled the scene after the accident. A manhunt has been launched to track him down.

Dipanshu was the youngest of four siblings, and his tragic demise occurred just two days before his board exams were set to begin.
