Changing Navi Mumbai: Airoli-Ghansoli Bridge & Palm Beach Extension to Revolutionize Commute

Airoli, Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai: Major infrastructural transformation is underway in Navi Mumbai with the construction of the Airoli-Ghansoli Bridge and the Palm Beach Road extension, promising to significantly ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity to Mumbai’s eastern suburbs and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.
The 3.47-km-long bridge, with a 1.9 km elevated flyover to preserve mangrove zones, will offer direct access between Airoli and Ghansoli, bypassing the overburdened Thane-Belapur Road and linking key locations like MIDC, Mindspace, Sion-Panvel Expressway, and Varista Junction.
The ₹540 crore project, funded by NMMC (₹372 crore) and CIDCO, began construction in February 2025 and is expected to be completed by September 2026. The project will also facilitate easier access to Kalyan, Ambernath, Badlapur, and Murbad, forming part of a wider urban development strategy.
According to NMMC officials, this bridge isn’t just a transit solution it’s a key driver of regional growth. “We are confident of meeting the September 2026 deadline,” a senior official confirmed.
