Encroachments Cleared Around Andheri Station to Ease Congestion and Boost Pedestrian Safety

Mumbai: In a significant step toward improving traffic flow and pedestrian safety, authorities have cleared long-standing encroachments around the bustling Andheri Station area. This move comes as part of a sustained effort to decongest key areas surrounding one of Mumbai's busiest transport hubs.
According to BJP MLA Ameet Satam, encroachments on several major roads including SV Road, JP Road, Masjid Galli, Gazdar Road, and MA Road have been permanently removed over the past few months. “The police and BMC have played an active and coordinated role in this drive. Encroachments that had been there for decades are now completely eliminated, making the station area much more accessible,” said Satam.
Andheri Station is one of Mumbai's busiest transit points, serving as a junction for the railway, metro, and multiple bus routes. Over the years, the area had become increasingly cluttered due to illegal stalls and constructions, severely hampering pedestrian movement and causing frequent traffic snarls.
Citizens had long complained about the difficulties they faced while navigating the area, especially during peak hours. The congestion not only led to delays but also posed safety risks to both pedestrians and motorists. Traffic police too were burdened with managing the chaos.
With the removal of these encroachments, commuters and pedestrians can now expect a smoother, safer experience around Andheri Station. Authorities have also hinted at further beautification and infrastructure upgrades in the vicinity to maintain order and improve urban mobility.
