Negligence Leads to Tragedy: 85-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Powai Hit-and-Run

Powai, Mumbai: An 85-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a motorbike while crossing the road in Powai on Friday. The victim, Padmsingh Nepali, was struck from behind as he walked towards the State Bank of India to update his passbook. The motorcyclist quickly took Nepali to Axon Hospital, but soon left after admitting him.

Unfortunately, Axon Hospital lacked oxygen facilities and recommended transferring Nepali to Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle West. Despite the family’s efforts to arrange for the transfer, Nepali passed away around 7:15 pm. The motorcyclist, having left the hospital, is now being sought by the police.

A case has been filed under the sections of causing death by negligence, rash driving, and failure to provide emergency assistance. Authorities have traced the vehicle number and plan to arrest the rider shortly.

Nepali is survived by his wife and son. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of pedestrians and accountability of individuals involved in accidents.
