Nirmala Sitharaman: India Ready to Move Forward on the Path of Development

New York/New Delhi : Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated on Monday that India is ready to advance on the path of development. Currently, India is the fifth-largest economy in the world. She mentioned that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected that it will become the third-largest economy by 2027. Sitharaman indicated that India's contribution to global growth is expected to increase by 200 basis points over the next five years.
According to a statement released by the Finance Ministry on Tuesday via X, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made these remarks while addressing a roundtable conference on "Investment Opportunities in India" at the New York Stock Exchange. In her address, she highlighted improvements in ease of doing business for enterprises in India and emphasized New Delhi's policy focus on reducing regulatory and compliance burdens.
During her visit, Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was hosted by Lynn Martin, Chairperson of the New York Stock Exchange. On this occasion, the Finance Minister toured the national historic site and conversed with a floor operator wearing a prestigious blue jacket, who informed her about the trading aspects at the New York Stock Exchange and showcased 11 Indian companies engaged in trading on the stock market. The Finance Minister thanked Lynn Martin and her team for the tour of the New York Stock Exchange.
