PM Modi Visits Adampur Air Base, Lauds IAF for Role in Operation Sindoor

Adampur, May 13 — In a strong show of solidarity and gratitude, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the Adampur Air Base in Punjab, days after the successful conclusion of Operation Sindoor and the subsequent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.
The visit comes in the wake of heightened tensions following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which prompted India to launch a strategic offensive against nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Adampur Air Base played a pivotal role in the execution of these precision air strikes.
During his visit, the Prime Minister interacted with Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel and was briefed on the planning and execution of Operation Sindoor, which has been widely acknowledged for its surgical precision and strategic impact. "It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination, and fearlessness," PM Modi stated in a post on social media platform X. "India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation."
PM Modi’s visit came shortly after an attempted missile and drone attack on Adampur Air Base by Pakistan on the intervening night of May 9 and 10, which was successfully thwarted by IAF’s advanced defence systems.
At a press briefing on Monday, Director General Air Operations, Air Marshal AK Bharti, reiterated that the objective of Operation Sindoor was strictly anti-terror. “Our fight is with the terrorists, not with the Pakistan Military or Pakistani civilians. We are very clear in our targeting,” he said. He also praised the performance of India’s air defence systems and indigenous technology, stating that the mission demonstrated the country’s preparedness to counter any form of technological threat.
The Prime Minister's visit to the air base and his commendation of the forces underscores the government’s commitment to national security and its support for the armed forces in maintaining peace and thwarting terrorism.
As India observes the fragile ceasefire, the leadership’s message remains firm: peace is preferred, but the country stands ready to act decisively against terrorism.
