Powai Auto Driver Stabbed Over ₹10 Dispute, One Accused Still Absconding

Mumbai, Powai : A minor argument over ₹10 escalated into violence in Powai, where an auto-rickshaw driver, Shahanawaz Shaikh (22), was stabbed by Avdhesh Saroj while his brother Pawan Saroj fled the scene. The dispute arose when Shaikh, who also runs an inflatable jumping bouncer ride, refused to lower his charge of ₹30 per child, demanding ₹90 for three children. The attackers found this unreasonable, leading to the assault.
The incident took place on February 28, and Powai police arrested Avdhesh Saroj two days later, while his 20-year-old brother Pawan is still on the run. Shaikh is now out of danger.
Meanwhile, another tragic incident occurred in Santacruz (East), where a pedestrian, Vijay Gurav (49), was fatally struck by an auto-rickshaw coming from the wrong side. The driver, Imran Abdul Ansari (26), has been arrested by Vakola police.
