Ranveer Allahbadia Faces Backlash, Loses Followers Amid 'Crass' Comment Controversy

Mumbai:Ranveer Allahbadia, better known as “Beer Biceps,” is facing a significant backlash after a controversial remark he made during the show India’s Got Latent went viral. The comment, which has been widely criticized as "crass and irresponsible," has triggered outrage among social media users, political leaders, and celebrities alike.

In the viral clip, Allahbadia posed a disturbing question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” This comment sparked a wave of condemnation, with many calling it offensive and inappropriate.

The episode, hosted by comedian Samay Raina and featuring Allahbadia as one of the judges, was subsequently taken down from YouTube India following the Indian government's directive. The platform complied with the request, citing the need to uphold content standards in accordance with local regulations. The incident has escalated further, with multiple police complaints filed and an FIR lodged against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, fellow judges Apoorva Makhija, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and the show’s producers.

In the wake of the controversy, Ranveer has seen a significant decline in his social media following. According to Qoruz, an influencer marketing intelligence platform, Allahbadia lost over 8,000 followers across his various platforms. His personal Instagram account has lost approximately 4,153 followers, while his BeerBiceps account shed around 4,205 followers. This decline in followers is expected to have a long-lasting impact on his subscriber base and brand partnerships.

Allahbadia, who has previously collaborated with major brands such as Spotify, Mountain Dew, Amazon Prime Video, Intel, and Wow Skin Science, may now face a loss of these lucrative brand deals as well.

While the fallout has been swift for Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, the host of the show, is also facing scrutiny. Gaurav Taneja, known for his YouTube channel Flying Beast, criticized Raina, remarking that “Samay Raina won’t stop until he gets YouTube India canceled,” adding fuel to the ongoing controversy.

The incident highlights the growing scrutiny faced by influencers and content creators in India, particularly when their content crosses boundaries of taste and decency. With the spotlight now on them, both Allahbadia and Raina face a challenging road ahead as they attempt to rebuild their reputations and manage the fallout from this viral incident.

As public outcry continues, the broader implications of such controversies on the influencer industry remain to be seen, with many questioning the responsibility of content creators in shaping public discourse.
