Rashid Latif Criticises BCCI Over ICC Champions Trophy Controversy

Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has launched a strong critique of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the scheduling of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Latif claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) strategically included venues in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) to provoke the BCCI, who strongly objected to the move.
In an interview with Nauman Niaz, Latif stated that the PCB "kept a foot on BCCI’s tail" by adding locations such as Muzaffarabad and Azad Kashmir to the Champions Trophy venues. He further alleged that the BCCI then "went crying to ICC," requesting the removal of these venues. As a result, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revised the schedule, removing POK venues and confirming that the tournament will take place in other cities across Pakistan.
This ongoing dispute has raised concerns over the tournament's future in Pakistan. There are rumours that the Champions Trophy could be relocated to South Africa if tensions continue, and the PCB is reportedly facing a potential loss of INR 52 crore if the event is boycotted
