Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 18, 2024, to attend the 19th G20 Summit. His visit follows a productive trip to Nigeria, where he engaged in bilateral talks with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and met with the Indian community. Upon landing in Brazil, PM Modi was greeted by the Indian community with warm Sanskrit chants, which he expressed gratitude for on X, stating, “Deeply touched by the warm and lively welcome from the Indian community.”
During the summit, PM Modi will join global leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden. India, as part of the G20 Troika alongside Brazil and South Africa, will play a pivotal role in the discussions. PM Modi emphasized his vision for "One Earth, One Family, One Future" and is expected to focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation during his talks.
PM Modi’s visit to Brazil is part of a three-nation tour, with the final leg in Guyana, marking the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister in over 50 years.
