Special Bus Service for Class X Students: A Step Towards Hassle-Free Exam Commuting in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai, March 1 – In a bid to ease the commute for Class X board exam students, Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) has launched a special bus service aimed at reducing congestion near exam centres. The initiative, spearheaded by NMMT Manager Yogesh Kaduskar and under the guidance of Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Kailash Shinde, aims to alleviate the heavy traffic caused by private vehicles and auto rickshaws during exam hours.
The special buses will help students travel hassle-free to and from their examination centres, ensuring timely arrival and departure. As exams are scheduled during peak office hours, the potential for traffic jams is high, which could delay students. To address this, the NMMT has introduced the ‘special student buses,’ which will reach the exam centres one hour before the exam begins.
"The buses are expected to arrive at the exam centres by 10 am, ahead of the 11 am start time, and will return at 2 pm for pick-up," said an NMMT official. While these buses follow the usual routes, there will be minor diversions to stop at locations closest to the exam centres.
The special bus routes cover several key locations in Navi Mumbai, including connections between Airoli and Vashi railway station, Ghansoli and Sanpada railway station, as well as CBD bus station and Vashi Sector-7 bus depot.
Last year, the service was introduced but saw a low response. However, with a more focused outreach, authorities are optimistic about a higher turnout this year. The service, which began on March 1, will continue throughout the duration of the board exams.
Students and their families are encouraged to take advantage of this dedicated service, which not only ensures a smooth commute but also helps reduce the stress of travel during this crucial period.
