Speeding Car Strikes Pedestrians, One Dead, One Critical

Taloja, Navi Mumbai: A tragic incident unfolded in Taloja when a speeding Tata Nexon car rammed into two pedestrians early in the morning on January 14. The incident resulted in one fatality and left another critically injured. The accident took place opposite Shivjagruti Hospital in the Taloja MIDC area around 9:30 AM.
The deceased, Lalu Narad Tanti (29), originally from Bihar and a resident of Padghegaon, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The woman, 44-year-old Pramila Prabhakar Das, also a Padghegaon resident, was on her way to work when the speeding car hit her. CCTV footage of the incident shows Pramila attempting to avoid the car but getting struck, while Lalu was hit from behind.
According to reports, the driver, Parveen Roshanlal Grover (Kalyan), had dozed off for a second, causing the car to veer out of control and hit the pedestrians. Grover, a supplier of footwear, was on his way to Satara when the crash occurred. Both victims were rushed to MGM Kamothe hospital, where Lalu was declared dead on arrival. Pramila remains in critical condition, receiving medical treatment.
Grover was arrested at the scene and charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.
