Thane: A tattoo and mehndi artist was allegedly molested by a fellow passenger aboard a local train at Kopar on Sunday morning. The incident occurred when the woman, who had boarded the middle vendors' coach at Diva, was on her way to Kalyan around 11 a.m.
According to the woman's account, the accused, who was already present in the coach, engaged in an argument with her over a seat. After the altercation, the woman decided to move to the adjacent ladies' coach at Kopar. However, the accused followed her and reportedly assaulted her.
In distress, the woman immediately pulled the emergency chain, halting the train. A police officer who was nearby responded promptly to the situation. Upon reaching the train, the officer apprehended the accused, who was later arrested.
The woman’s quick action in pulling the chain prevented further escalation of the situation. The police are currently investigating the matter, and the accused has been taken into custody.
Authorities have emphasized the importance of ensuring safety and security for women aboard local trains and continue to urge passengers to report any untoward incidents.
