Thane-Belapur Road to Shut for a Week from May 7 Due to Concreting Work Traffic Diversions Announced; Commuters Urged to Cooperate

Navi Mumbai, May 7: The Navi Mumbai Traffic Department has announced a complete shutdown of a key section of the Thane-Belapur Road for a week due to crucial road concreting work. The shutdown will be in effect from 9:00 pm on Wednesday, May 7, until midnight on May 14.

The closure will impact the stretch between Savita Chemical and Turbhe Railway Station, near the IKEA store. The project is being undertaken by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) as part of its ongoing road infrastructure improvement initiative.

A report submitted by the Senior Police Inspector of the Turbhe Traffic Division highlighted the need to prevent traffic congestion and ensure public safety during the construction period. Acting on this, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Tirupati Kakade issued an official notification under the Motor Vehicles Act and government directives.

To mitigate inconvenience, the traffic department has released a detailed diversion plan:

  • Light vehicles will be diverted via Fire Brigade Signal (Mahape), passing through Sector 26 APMC and Palm Beach Road to reach their destinations.

  • Heavy vehicles have been provided two alternative routes:

    1. Turn left from Fire Brigade Signal (Mahape) and pass through the Turbhe MIDC area.

    2. Turn left from under the Savita Chemical Bridge and continue along the Turbhe MIDC route.

The traffic department has appealed to all motorists to cooperate with the diversion plan and plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays and congestion.

"We request the public to bear with us during this short period. The work is essential for long-term road improvement and commuter safety," a Navi Mumbai traffic official said.

Commuters are advised to stay updated through official channels and follow on-ground traffic signage and instructions.
