The U.S. Kills Terrorist Commander Mohammad Salah al-Jabeer in Syria

Tampa (Florida)/Damascus (Syria), January 31 : On Thursday, the United States killed Mohammad Salah al-Jabeer, a commander of an al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group, in a drone airstrike in the Idlib governorate of northwestern Syria. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and the Arabic news website '+963' confirmed this.

According to local sources cited by '+963,' Mohammad Salah al-Jabeer, who was the former leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, was in a jeep with a foreign companion when the drone targeted their vehicle. Both were killed in the attack. Over the past years, coalition drones have targeted Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants and ISIS leaders residing in northwestern Syria with several airstrikes.

In a statement, U.S. Central Command said that this strike was aimed at dismantling terrorist networks. General Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander of CENTCOM, stated that CENTCOM will continue to hunt down and eliminate such terrorists. CENTCOM is committed to defending its homeland. It is noteworthy that a coup recently took place in Syria, with the rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham overthrowing Bashar al-Assad's government. Ahmad al-Shara has been appointed as the interim president of the country.
